Books and Birthdays and Robert Burns

My little blog-run kinda ran out a bit there. Sorry.

Well, to begin, I'll pick up where I last left off - my books. I have indeed been reading, and early in the month of January I was able to tick Beloved off my reading list. Excellent book. I can't believe I never finished it last time. I had no idea what I was missing. That is probably because you don't actually begin to find out what the book is REALLY about until over half way through, but even the first half is gripping, even if you can't really figure out why the events in the story are occurring.

Next on my list was The Great Gatsby, but I couldn't find my copy to start reading it! So I ambitiously picked up Fidel Castro's semi-autobiography to read instead. It is very interesting too, but long, and also hard to pick up (but once you do, you get sucked right back in). It's not exactly your 'read in the bathtub' type book or your 'stay up until all hours of the night to see what happens next' type book, but it is intriguing all the same. Unfortunately, I am afraid I won't be able to finish it by the end of February, but I am going to try.

So... what else...

Oh, well, of course, my darling first-born had her fifth birthday this week. I can't believe my little Fifi is FIVE. It doesn't seem possible. So this weekend I've been trying to plan for her party, which is tomorrow. It's a My Little Pony party, and I've been having great fun planning it. But more on that after (with photos).

And aside from that, the other biggie for this week is the fact that I have my childminding inspection this week on Wednesday. I am terrified. I know I shouldn't be, but I just am! Aughhh! I know I don't have anything to do to prepare for it (aside from updating a bit of paperwork I keep meaning to do, but that won't take long), it just seems like so much pressure. And I don't like pressure. I don't suppose many people do really...

Well, I hope this little random update will get me back into another blogging swing. I had this great idea for a Burns Night post, and I can't believe I didn't use THAT opportunity to jump back on the wagon, but maybe I'll come back to it anyway sometime soon.

I'll leave you with this. The BEST video I've seen on YouTube in, like, ever. It's so me!
